RODE NTG-1

Microphones | Friday December 31 2010 7:26 pm | Comments (5)

As standard the AF101 does come with a flat on board microphone, not recommended for serious work, so you will need to choose an effects mic if you need good on board sound. The new RODE NTG-1 is a lightweight condenser shotgun microphone, specifically designed for professional applications within the film, video, television, voice-over and [...]

AF101 Power

Power & Batteries | Friday December 31 2010 6:59 pm | Comments (0)

The AF101 comes with 1 small battery and a single battery charger, I would advise at least 2 spare batteries. IDX produce a dual simultaneous battery charger and heavy duty batteries especially for the AF101 camera.

KIPON Adapter…Canon EF to mFT

Adapters | Friday December 31 2010 2:11 am | Comments (0)

I was a wee bit unsure when I placed an order for this adapter but not only did it arrive within the 5 days but is a far higher quality than I was expecting. You can only carry out tests on lenses that you can fit onto a mFT camera like the G2 if you [...]

Canon 17-40mm f4 L lens

Lenses | Friday December 31 2010 1:06 am | Comments (0)

This is a great lens the Canon 17-40mm f4 L lens. I used a Kipon Canon adapter produced in Hong Kong which has a very clever 14 blade internal iris built in. I took both pictures with a Panasonic G2 mFT camera.

The rumors are true!  Birger is coming out with a lens control system for EF mount lenses on the Panasonic AF100. Control for the iris, both auto and manual, will be from the camera.  Continuous (video-style) auto-focus will be supported on most Canon “L-series” lenses. Power is provided by the camera for most lenses.  Image [...]

MTF Adapters

Adapters | Wednesday December 29 2010 11:12 pm | Comments (2)

The one thing that is clear is that many third party manufacturers have made micro Four Third adapters due to the Panasonic and Olympus DSLRs. This has been very useful because we don’t need to re-invent the wheel or wait 4-5 months for adapters to be produced. So what are adapters…In it’s simplest form an [...]

Voigtlander NOKTON 25mm f0.95 mFT lens

Lenses | Wednesday December 29 2010 11:09 pm | Comments (0)

This is a great wee lens from Voigtlander it’s a 25mm f0.95 micro Four Third lens and is a cracking interview lens. Look at the fantastic “bokeh” (out of focus or shallow depth of field) behind my good lady’s face. This is an extremely sharp lens and is made in Japan.

Panasonic 14-140mm f4-5.8 mFT lens

Lenses | Wednesday December 29 2010 11:06 pm | Comments (5)

As you can see at 140mm telephoto you are getting a useful shallow depth of field, this could easily be a still from an interview. Garry wrote in asking “Thanks for the site and tests so far but surely putting an F4 or f5.6 lens on a 4/3 sensor defeats the object and will give [...]
